University isn’t the only, or best, way to become qualified for the job you want. CEO of the Institute of Workplace Skills and Innovation and author of JOB U, Nicholas Wyman, tells 2UE’s Stuart Bocking – a university degree isn’t essential for success. The notion that university is best pathway to a career, Mr Wyman says “is a real problem for students who are being told that if they don’t get to university that life is over, and it’s absolutely not the case.” Mr Wyman explains there are other pathways available, such as a traineeship or apprenticeship. “For people who aren’t quite sure what it is they want to do – there are options,” he says.
